One Last Time!

Melbourne, VIC, Australia

It's hard to believe that this will be our final visit to the Victorian Capital for a while. Myself and Jason both have very happy memories of this beautiful city. Time really does go far too fast!

On all our other flights we haven't had any issues with our hand luggage. However, this time, our airline 'Tiger Air' insisted on our bags been weighed at check in. Just our luck, our luggage was over. While we tried to chuck a few things out, my camera bag pushed it over too far that there was no point in chucking anything out which meant one of us had to pay the additional fee. They are definitely way to strict. We have never had our cabin bags weighed like that before. Jason really wasn't impressed. But, I quickly told him to try and forget it and to not let it put a dampener on our amazing week on the island.

Boarding the plane, we were like royalty as they called the people sitting in exit row seats first. This allowed us to board, hassle free without being stuck behind a rather large queue. Of course, the best part for me is definitely being able to stretch my legs out without being squashed. When your my height, this is a luxury that is greatly appreciated!

Here we are again, back at 'Urban Central.' I've lost count of all the times we have left and come back. I really couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. It always feels like we've arrived home as soon as we step through the door. After checking in with the guys, we went up to our dorm where I noticed one of the beds had a top with 'Dublin Fire Brigade' written on it. Obviously we have an Irish person staying with us. Small world! The other person in the room was Amar, whom we worked with in the hostel, who wasn't too bad considering he can be a little bit OTT.

Trying to be nice, I got Jason to ring Sandra. Even though she wrecks my head, she is very fond of Jason. We go down stairs to meet her. 'Darling, darling, what happened to you?' Pointing at Jason's face emphasising how much weight he put on. The best part came next. She starts by pointing at my stomach and then pointing at the upper part of my body. 'Darling, what are these?' Of course, I was very quick with her. Seriously, how insulting! She is one person we won't be forgetting in a hurry. 'Darling, darling, can I have a bowl?' Like Jason pointed out, different cultures. But still!

Jason was back to his old tricks hosting the poker where I got to enjoy a chat and a couple of free drinks with Nicola thanks to Jason's free bar tab for hosting the poker. That is what you call a nice, cheap night!

It seems like only yesterday we were dropping our bags over to Busters. After getting the train over to him, we thought we would save a bit of money and get a bus from the train station over to him rather than having to pay for a taxi. It's always a good thing when one tries to be sensible. The only thing is, Jason put us on the wrong bus that went in the opposite direction from where we wanted to go to. Trying to get a taxi from where we were was a bit of a nightmare. It took the fourth taxi sent out to us to actually find us. An hour after arriving on the train, we eventually arrived at Busters'.

While we were away, Buster and Graham had a bit of an accident, with part of the ceiling in the spare bedroom falling on top of our bags covering them in fibreglass. Luckily, it came off easily which allowed us to open them up and chuck a load of stuff out. Having lighter bags is something we always strive towards, unless your Jason's lovely, crazy mother, Jo Jo, who would bring not only the sink with her, but the oven as well! That to me sounds like a complete nightmare! Big, heavy bags! No thank you! It was good catching up with Buster. Hopefully we will meet again!

With our bags packed, both of us checked out of our second home, good old 'Urban!' We couldn't leave Melbourne without a stroll by the casino along the river on Southbank, stopping for a barista 'Strong Flat White Coffee' in one of the cities many laneway cafés on 'Flinders Lane.' It's sad to think that it will be a long time before we are back in this very special city!

Goodbye Melbs. Thanks for making us feel at home! Don't worry, someday, we will be back...
