Location:

Cebu City, The Philippines

The time has come for the next leg of our adventures but first we must get a ferry to Cebu where we will have to spend the night. On a positive, at least we get to see somewhere new. On a negative, there is a lot of poverty on the streets of the countries second largest city, with children roaming the streets at night and some getting ready for yet another lonely night in a world that has been unjustifiably harsh to them through no action of themselves! Of course, not all of them have the same faith but in a world that spares no man, the harsh reality is, they could be next.

On to more light-hearted things! With not much time to explore, all that time would offer us is a walk around the city's main square, which happened to be in walking distance from the port. In preparation of 'The International Eucharist Congress' taking place in the city, the square is filled with decorative lights that are a feast for the eyes! Right beside the square is an old moat that deserves a further exploration of the grounds. I'm not sure if Jason is a fan of all this random discovery especially with all our luggage in tow.

After our little tour of the city, we headed straight over to our hostel, 'Le Village Guesthouse Hostel & Bar.' With only a few minutes since we arrived, we were chatting to other backpackers who challenged us to a game of 'Beer Pong.' I think Jason was very proud of me as I actually played really well for once. If only I could say the same about him. I'm sure with a bit of practice he could challenge me to a proper game. Of course, we all know who will win! And we all know who the superior player is. While we all enjoyed a really good night getting to know each other, Jason got a little bit carried away and took being 'Merry' literally!

One of the great things about travelling are all the interesting characters you meet. A fellow backpacker we met told us that he has been travelling for the last ten years. Now that's impressive. Lets see if myself and Jason can last on 'The Big Adventure' that long, after all it is a life long exploration of a world that seems to grow as one puts on their exploration cap!
