It's time to hit the sky's again. We may be travelling with Ryanair, but at least it's only a quick 30 minutes trip. It would probably take me longer to get into Dublin City Centre by bus. Crazy! Before we knew it, we had made it across the Irish Sea to Manchester. On arrival, we were met by Jason's friend, Glen. After a short wait for a train, we were finally in our way to Bolton. You see, nice and easy!

When we arrived in Bolton, the first thing we did was to find somewhere cheap to eat. What better place than 'Yates Bar.' Jason even got to play a game of pool. What more could he ask for? From there we had to catch a very short bus to bring us to our hotel.
To be fair, our hotel, 'Britannia Hotels' might not look the best from the outside, but the rooms are really nice and comfortable. Ok, maybe there a little bit stuffy at times, but sure you can't have everything. The good thing is that were not to far from Glen and Hayley's with 'The Three Pigeons' pub in the middle of us.
After myself and Jason freshened ourselves up, it was time to meet Glen, Hayley and their lovely baby Amelia. Mother and child both looked very well. After a couple of minutes catch up, we all walked down to the Three Pigeons for a drink and a bit of grub.
The following day, we all got the train into Manchester where we enjoyed a few hours exploring through Britain's industrialised city and on 'St Georges Day' of all days. Of course, that's the main reason why we went to England at that time! Wink, wink! A walk down the iconic 'Canal Street' which is home to many gay bars, was certainly a must for us. Unfortunately, walk past is all we were able to do. Next time we come over, we need to spend a night in Manchester where we can really see what the cities second most iconic street has to offer! Bet you cant can't guess which is its number one? When we got back to the train station in Bolton, we were accused of having the wrong ticket. To be fair myself and Jason didn't know you couldn't use it during peak times. Glen and Hayley were not happy bunnies and went crazy with the ticket inspectors!

Before we knew it, we were back in Bolton. That evening Jason and Glen went to a pub to play a few games of pool. I decided to stay in the hotel and relax. Thoughts of a night playing pool doesn't interest me in the slightest! My lazy night in was interrupted by a walk to the shops where I was able to take a couple of really nice photos of the sun setting on the fields of Bolton. Where Glen is living is really nice. There are a lot of green space with herds of sheep! After a little while, I made it back in one piece to the hotel room where I was able to enjoy a few nice munchies and a browse through all the tv stations on offer.

The next morning, we all met up for some breakfast and a wander through Bolton. It's a really nice, historical town with lots of nice architecture. With not much to do, we decided to check the local museum out which had a display about the Egyptians. After a walk through the museum, we were then able to enjoy the city's aquarium which had lots of cool fishes. Of course, from that point onwards, the day went from good to bad as Jason and Glen had made plans for the afternoon to go to a snooker hall for a few games of snooker and darts! I'm sorry, but I can't think of anything more boring! I'd rather watch paint dry! That just says it all! Later on, myself and Jason enjoyed a few drinks and gorgeous food in The Three Pigeons with a nice chat as well!

On our last day in England, we all met up again for a rather tasty breakfast! After another wonder through Bolton we did our goodbyes at the train station. Due to maintenance at weekends, the train we would normally get into Manchester was replaced with a bus service. Our plane wasn't on till later on so it gave us a few hours to have a proper look around Manchester. We haven't even touched the surface of what the city has to offer, but we did see a mosaic art display of the cities most famous cobbled street, 'Coronation Street' and of course, it wouldn't be right to forget about Manchester United! Like them or not, they are still both national institutions, not only for Manchester, but for Britain!

Myself and Jason really enjoyed our stay in Manchester. It was nice being able to catch up with Glen and his lovely new family! While we were there, myself and Jason enjoyed our little holiday within a holiday! A good experience and we can't wait to go back! Next time, we might even take a trip to Blackpool!
