The journey to Maroochydore only took us a couple of hours, but to be honest, we've had better journeys. The two of us felt a bit sick as the driver was driving was bombing along through the endless hills and bends. Luckily it was only a short journey. During it, Jason's beloved phone felt out of his pocket and down the side of the seat. He was there for ages trying to get it out, constantly banging his head off the window. Eventually he have up, and I had a go. Less than ten seconds later, I placed the phone in his hand. I don't think he was too impressed, but at least he got it back. As we drove into Maroochydore, we were impressed at all the different shops and restaurants on offer. It definitely felt like we were in a small city with busy roads and high rise buildings. A few minutes later, it was time to disembark from the bus, throw our backpacks' up onto our backs and go in search of our lovely hostel, 'Cottontree Backpackers.' Eventually we found it. It's an old house turned into a hostel, located along the esplanade on the banks of the river. While it has plenty of charm, it's certainly not the cleanest of places we have ever stayed in, hence why myself, Jason and Anna never cooked here. By the time we left, we were all sick of fast food. Truth be told, there wasn't really much for us to do here as the weather wasn't great. We did manage to check out all the different shops where I bought myself a new tablet. How crazy is that? Bored each day, we were constantly looking for things to do and the only thing that we could really do was to checkout the cinema, where we got to watch 'Horrible Bosses 2' and the final 'Hobbit' movie. Both good movies that kept us entertained if even for a few hours. My favourite thing that we all did in Maroochydore was visiting the 'Australia Zoo' AKA 'Steve Irwin Zoo.' We had to jump on a bus, hop a train and get our legs pumping just to get here, but it was well worth it. Definitely worth a visit. What I really liked about the zoo is that they have zoo keepers in different locations along the walkways with each showcasing different animals where you can get a photo taken. We just took our own but we did get a photo with the tortoise's. What amazing creatures they are. They live until the golden age of 200. That's amazing. At only 36, they were not even sexually matured to start having babies, and are classed as teenagers. Wouldn't that put a smile on all 36 year olds. We really enjoyed all the different shows they had including the crocodile one. It was brilliant. Lets be honest, you can't come to Steve Irwin's zoo and not go see a crocodile show! All three of us had a really good day out. On the way back, we had a bit of a walk back to the train station and to make things worse, the heavens decided to open up. Luckily for us a guy took pity on us and gave us a lift instead. At the train station, this other guy started talking to us about this concert in Dublin and couldn't understand why it wasn't in the UK as Dublin like the rest of Ireland hasn't got very much as it's just a small Ireland and by having it there, they wouldn't get very many people going to it. He probably thinks our sacred land is covered in leprechauns. I guess some people are just pure ignorant. This guy was all of the above! What a weirdo! Did we enjoy our stay in Maroochydore, yes we did. The only problem was, we didn't get to see very much. Which brings me to the conclusion that we will have to make a return sometime in the near future!
