Hue, Vietnam

Luckily for us, it only took us four hours to get up here. While Kathrin listened to her iPod, myself and Jason spent most of the journey chatting, which was really nice. When we arrived in Hue, this guy came up to us wanting us to stay in his hotel. We were a bit sceptical at first. He kept on saying we could trust him as he loved his job. There were other people in his van so we decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. None of the guys in the back could move and the guy had to sit on our bags. Luckily for me, I was in the front. The advantage of having long legs! We checked out his hotel 'Sunny Hotel.' Himself and the hotel were both really nice. Actually, everyone there were lovely to us. It was only done up recently as it was very modern. Our room was really nice and we spent each evening in the room relaxing watching movies, which we all really enjoyed. The city is only small, but there is an old imperial town which we enjoyed walking around. Inside the old town walls there is a nice moat with pretty lotus flowers. There were even men fishing in it. What's really amazing, is that its Jason's 6th day off meat. Yes, you heard right, Jason, 'The Mad For Chicken Man' has taken the plunge to become a vegetarian. I told him that he can forget about that idea as I'm not spending my life in the kitchen cooking two meals. Of course, as always, I am very proud of him. I think he should give up alcohol next. That really would be a challenge for him. Watch this space! After a year without a haircut, the scruffy Swiss finally decided to make the scary trip to the hairdresser, and so did I. It was a student place where they were all learning the trade. We each had six guys all around us observing what was going on. When they finished with Kathrin's hair, the owner spent ages taking photos of her. They did a really good job and it only cost her $4.50. However, she felt like a celebrity with so many photos. She was like a diva all day bossing myself and Jason around! We each really enjoyed the Indian restaurant beside us so much that we got a takeaway for our room one of the nights and we even had it for brunch on our final day here. It was probably the highlight of Hue! While Hue is very nice, with nice parks, there really isn't a lot to do, therefore, I don't know if I would return in the future! By Andrew
