Hoi An, Vietnam

It took us a long twelve hours to get here. The worst part of all, was that we were on the bus for the full twelve hours with out any breaks, unlike all the other journeys so far. Well maybe that wasn't the worst part! The worst part of the whole journey was that I felt so ill. The girls in our last hotel recommended 'The Sunflower Hotel.' We thought if they recommended it, then it must be good. From the moment we got there, the staff were so rude and obnoxious. We even had to wait a few hours till twelve to check in, even though there were empty rooms. Eventually we were able to check in. Kathrin went up to check the room and was attacked by a member of staff who was shouting at her, wanting to know why she was up there, demanding to see her room key. The only good thing about the whole place was the breakfast. The dorm we saw was unsafe as the bars at the side of the top bunks were all damaged. Then we looked at a private room. The only problem was that there was no safety deposit box and it didn't seem safe as it was on the ground floor behind the reception area with too many people passing it all the time. With no suitable rooms and very rude staff, we decided not to stay. I even went on to ' Trip Advisor' to write a really bad review about this place, which is something I never do! Just down the road we found a really good hotel called ' The Green Field Hotel.' The staff were so friendly. They even upgraded our room free of charge, which was great as I felt so ill. I spent nearly the whole day in bed. Between feeling ill and exhausted, I couldn't move. Jason and Kathrin went out exploring while I slept. The hotel even gave us three free cocktails in the bar. To take advantage of it, we all went down to the bar, but I felt so wretched and I found it hard to stay awake. In the end I had to return to the room. After getting plenty of sleep, I felt a lot better the following day. Not 100% yet, but much better. And after spending the whole day in bed, I wanted to get up and go exploring. Because we were outside the town, we decided to hire some bikes and cycle in. It was a fun way to explore. The town is so nice. There is definitely a strong French influence. It is such a beautiful town. They even had a river filled with long boats which made the town even more picturesque. For lunch, I got some really nice food in 'Morning Glory' which really helped me. We then went exploring on our bikes through the quaint streets of Hoi An. On the way back, we stopped by the post office as Kathrin wanted to send some stuff home. The Mad Cat Lady paid a whopping $70. Definitely expensive! We finished our evening having amazing local food in a really nice place where they didn't even have an English menu. It was proper local food and it was so tasty. We really enjoyed our stay here. The town was so beautiful. It's definitely a place I could come back to.
