Koh Samui Island, Thailand

After only a few days in Koh Tao, it was time to move on. Luckily for us there wasn't much travelling involved. Just a few hours on a ferry and before we knew it, we were at Koh Samui. It's certainly a huge island. A lot more touristy than Koh Tao, with a lot more happening. The town is filled with a great selection of shops and bars. There was even a Boots, which Kathrin was really impressed with as she had never been in one before. It was time now to find somewhere nice to stay. We were on the beach lucking for a room and this really nice South African told us about The Best Beach resort. With out fail, we went up, checked it out, and we were really impressed with what we saw. We even managed to get a triple room for myself, Jason and Kathrin. Unfortunately, Kathrin wasn't feeling too well, so myself and Jason went to meet Pat from the Carnival Bar in Chiang Mai, who was staying on the same beach as us. However, when we went up to meet her, she had already gone. I guess we will have to return to Chiang Mai some day. Rather than missing an opportunity, we both decided to get a cocktail at this really fancy bar. The bar was on the beach, with bean bags everywhere, fancy lights and a really cool DJ playing nice, relaxing music. The beach won it for me, with amazing, soft white sand, warm turquoise water. We were in paradise! The following day, we all needed a nice lazy day, so we spent the day on the beach. We are on a tropical island! I can not think of a better thing to do. Maybe I can. Content on trying something a bit daring, myself and Jason hired a Jet Ski together, which was really cool, apart from the bit where we fell in the water, but we live to tell the tale. After a nice sleep, it was time to get up for an action packed day of adventures, and see the big waterfall everyone has been telling us about. We got a pickup truck/bus to it. However, it left us on the main road and we had to walk up to it. It was a long, tough walk with tonnes of really steep hills, and the heat didn't make things easier. The walk up to it through the jungle was really nice. We passed by an elephant park, but they didn't look too happy. The poor elephants! After a tough walk and a bit of a climb, we finally made it to Namuang Waterfall. It was definitely worth it. The waterfall was beautiful, with so loads to see. I think Jason was a little scared because I kept venturing off to other parts. To be fair, I only brought him to the really nice parts. Coming back, we all decided to get a lift to the famous Grandmother and Grandfather stones. They were really nice but very graphical. We also got really nice views of the sea and the whole beach front. Definitely worth a visit. Getting home was very interesting. We got another pickup truck/bus. It was so full, that a couple had to stand on a step attached to the truck. I guess in Thailand anything goes! The best news of the day, was that Kathrin was now travelling around with us until July, instead of May. Myself and Jason couldn't be anymore delighted as we have all become really good friends. We can have a laugh together which is great. To make Jason's day even more complete, we all went out to watch the Liverpool/Chelsea match. Which I think he was happy with. The streets are crazy here, with locals charging tourists to hold large lizards and monkeys. They do look pretty cool though. The island is very touristy and to be honest, the streets don't smell the best, but I'm sure you could get use to it. One thing i really don't like about this place is all the dirty old men with there Thai brides. But maybe there very happy with each other. Apart from all that, It is a huge island with so much to see and we have probably only seen a fraction of it, so I think we will have to return someday, but not in the near future!
