We finally arrived in Dubai for the start of 'The Big Adventure.' After getting our luggage, we went out to get a taxi and before we knew it, this guy grabbed all our bags and we were off to our hotel. It was a scary experience as the drivers in Dubai are crazy, but the roads are amazing with so many flyovers, just like the states. Eventually we got to our hotel, 'Al Moraj Rotanna.' What a beautiful hotel! The staff were all really nice to us. We even managed to get a free room upgrade. When we got to our room, we both looked at each other and went 'Wow'. It was huge, so luxurious with stunning views of the whole complex. After only a few hours sleep, it was time for the 'Atlantis Water Park'. Thanks Jo-Jo. During a nice lunch in Starbucks, Jason decides to jump up and scream like a girl because he saw a mosquito. Everyone was looking at him but it was funny. It was time for the water park. First things first, the first slide we did had to be epic. We both looked at 'The Leap of Faith', a 60 foot vertical drop and said this is the one for us. Me being scared of heights, I can't believe I did it. It was brilliant, a real adrenaline rush. We had a brilliant day. Jason even said it was better than 'Florida'. So it must have been something. Our big day out finished at 'The Lost Chambers of Atlantis'. The aquarium was really nice, well worth a visit. That night, we went for dinner in the 'Double Decker Bar'. We even got to see the whole team of an Irish Jockey who had won that day. The following day it was time for the Dubai Mall. This place is like a maze. It's so big and complicated. After having a browse, we decided to go outside to the the fountain area. The Dubai Fountain and the Burj Kalifa were both enormous. The Berj Kalif made other high rise buildings look tiny in comparison. After seeing enough of the mall, we decided to take the metro to Dubai creek. The walk from the mall to the metro was crazy. It took around 15 minutes. Too long! The creek area was more traditional with no high rise buildings. After spending an hour here, it was time to head back to the mall as we wanted to see the Dubai Fountain water show. Another amazing experience. It was beautiful. The height the water went up to was crazy. We got to watch the sunset while enjoying the show. A spectacular event. Because Jason had never been to the Cheesecake Factory, we decided to go here for dinner. The food was lovely but the portions were really really big. We both needed to be rolled out of the place. What a way to end the first leg of our Big Adventure! We both agreed that we would definitely go back. There is so much to see and it's a shoppers paradise. With the expo 2020, it will be a very interesting place to visit over the next few years!
